I have a Potterton Suprima 40L. The boiler will only ignite when there is a demand for hot water. If the hot water tank is at temperature it will not ignite, but does if I turn the thermostat up. I can only have CH on when hot water is on. Can you help please.

Potterton Suprima Boiler Won't start? I have a Potterton Suprima 30 in a five years old house. Last year the PCB had to be replaced due to the system constantly going into lockout. 6 months after the (not cheap) PCB was replaced, the Boiler is acting up again. The system randomly goes into lockout, but the reset button sometimes works, soemtimes doesn't. Another strange symptom that has.

My Suprima 40L boiler won't shut itself down when the CH is on, even if it exceeds the thermostat required temp. We have to shut the system down by flicking the fuse switch to off. Even when we move the CH control panel to off and switch the fuse back to on the CH kicks back in and superheats the house using lots of gas!! A British gas engineer who serviced the system said it could be 2 things.

If there is no water from the hot tap, or the hot water supply is spluttering, then the most likely culprit is an airlock. As the name suggests, this is when air becomes trapped in water pipes, being less dense than water, it can collect in high points on the pipes leading to partial or complete water blockages.

The Potterton Suprima 80L has a SAP seasonal efficiency rating of 78.8%. The Suprima 80L is a Non-Condensing Conventional boiler with a maximum power output of 23.4kw that uses Gas as its fuel source. We recommend that you upgrade to a new, more efficient boiler to help reduce fuel bills and carbon dioxide emissions. Get quotes for a new boiler.

Potterton system boilers work on the principle of stored hot water, however, many of the individual components of the heating and hot water system are built into the boiler itself. The system removes the need for a feed and expansion cistern, but there is still a cold water tank unless you have a pressurised hot water cylinder. Systems boilers are suitable for homes with higher hot water.
